Protect and Connect South San Francisco

June 2025 to Present
Client: City of South San Francisco

The City of South San Francisco is studying ways to protect the shoreline from the impacts of sea level rise and improve transportation connections in the area. This study will include a flood vulnerability assessment and develop different shoreline adaption concepts and strategies.

Winter provides digital and in-person engagement for this project which includes developing and maintaining an interactive project website, creating and disseminating surveys, and implementing in-person engagement. During the first phase of engagement, Winter coordinated a community “Day on the Bay” bringing over 80 participants to the shoreline. This event gathered community input and brought partner organizations to table and illustrate resources in the area. Partners at this event included three groups doing environmental work and two utilities that serve residents throughout South San Francisco.
