Resilient Coast Monterey
August 2025 to Present
Client: City of Monterey
Funded by the California Coastal Commission’s Local Coastal Program, the City of Monterey is developing a plan to identify sea level rise adaptation strategies. The plan will focus on protecting community assets, coastal habitats, and coastal-dependent communities, businesses, and services, as well as preserving and improving coastal access and recreation opportunities.
The Winter team is leading equitable and inclusive community, stakeholder, and Tribal engagement to build awareness of and gather input on Monterey’s coastal vulnerabilities and sea level rise threats through educational materials, community conversations around critical coastal resources, and engagement to support prioritization of climate adaptation strategies. Methods include multilingual community meetings, digital surveys, focus groups, pop-up outreach and other potential activities to be identified through CBO partnerships.
