Sunnyvale East Channel Trail Study

The City of Sunnyvale is evaluating the addition of a nearly 6-mile trail for biking and walking. The trail would be along Santa Clara Valley Water’s East Channel Maintenance Road, from the Bay Trail to Homestead Road.

The Winter team is planning and implementing community engagement over the three phases of the Study. After developing a comprehensive engagement plan in Phase 1, Winter developed and distributed a mailer to five thousand Sunnyvale residents to announce the Study and recruit Trail Ambassadors. Winter also led Trail Ambassador selection, convened and facilitated the group’s first two meetings, is managing relationships and all correspondence with this group, and developed a Trailblazer program to continue close engagement with residents who were not selected as Trail Ambassadors. Broader engagement led by Winter for the Study includes mobile walking workshops, virtual and in-person community meetings, pop-up activities at community events, and focus groups.
