Hayward D & Clay Street Park

The D & Clay Street Park project aimed to create a new neighborhood park in South Hayward, expanding access to green space in a historically underserved community. The initiative focused on developing a community-driven vision and conceptual design that reflected local priorities, promoted equity, and supported Hayward Area Recreation & Park District’s grant application for funding.

Winter led the engagement efforts for the project, implementing a multifaceted approach to connect with residents of all ages, backgrounds, and language needs. By coordinating in-person and virtual engagement opportunities, Winter ensured community members could share input on design concepts, park amenities, and site features. Through this comprehensive outreach, Winter helped ensure the final park design reflected the diverse needs and priorities of the surrounding community while strengthening trust between residents and the District.
